The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is temporarily unavailable due to technical challenges associated with its hosting arrangements.
The Board’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Benjamin, who is the Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocols (PAP), said the board had commenced discussions with the hosting organisation to identify and resolve the problem.
He said the disruption was particularly significant because CAPS was the central platform through which admissions into tertiary institutions across the country were processed.
According to him, the disruption occurred at a peak period of the admission exercise when institutions are actively processing admissions and candidates are awaiting admission decisions.
“The Board considers it important to promptly inform the public of this development, in keeping with its commitment to transparency and accountability in the conduct of its statutory responsibilities,” he said.
Benjamin said the board was working round the clock with the hosting organisation to restore the platform to full functionality as quickly as possible.
He assured candidates, institutions and other stakeholders that the board was making every effort to resolve the issue.
He added that the board would review the circumstances surrounding the disruption and put measures in place to prevent a recurrence.
Benjamin expressed the board’s appreciation to candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding, adding that further updates would be provided as developments unfolded.
