IRAN and Russia could serve as a model to inspire other countries to form a stronger coalition against Western powers.

Deputy Head of Iran’s parliamentary economic commission, Jafar Qaderi told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

“This alliance could also encourage other nations under U.S. sanctions to contribute to building a more robust coalition against Western countries,’’ Qaderi said.

Russia and Iran recently  finalised a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, which included a clause on respecting territorial integrity, comprising  47 articles.

This is along with an introduction aimed at fostering balanced cooperation between the two nations, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, said on Monday.

The ratification process in Iran required the government to submit the agreement to parliament for approval.

In December, Jalali announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, would visit Moscow on Jan. 17, to sign the treaty.

This agreement is set to replace the existing document on the fundamentals of relations and principles of cooperation between the two countries, signed in Moscow back in 2001.
