INSECURITY: Nigerian Troops Kills Terrorist, Raids Hideouts In Kaduna

THE Nigerian Army has announced that its troops have neutralized a suspected terrorist during a raid on hideouts in Kaduna.

According to a statement by Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 1 Division, the operation was carried out on August 25.

The troops conducted a clearance operation in several locations, including Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji.

During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, resulting in the death of one insurgent.

Many others escaped with gunshot injuries.

Yahaya’s statement confirmed the success of the operation, which aimed to disrupt and eliminate terrorist activities in the region.

“In the fire fight that ensued, troops overpowered and neutralised one of the terrorists while others fled with suspected gunshot injuries,” the statement reads.

“Troops recovered four AK-47 magazines (three fully loaded with total quantity 60 x 7.62mm Special ammunition and one empty magazine), a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles (one of which was destroyed).”

Other items recovered include a Tecno mobile phone, a baofeng handheld radio, and an airtel recharge card valued at N5,000.

Mayirenso Saraso, general officer commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, commended the troops for their efforts and for “making life extremely difficult” for terrorists operating in parts of the country.

Saraso thanked the people of Kaduna, Kano, Niger and Jigawa states for their continuous cooperation.

He urged them to take advantage of the toll-free number 0800 002 0204 to report relevant information.
