How Champion Newspaper’s Deputy Editor, Bisiriyu Olaoye, died 72 Hours after birthday

Deputy Editor of the Champion Newspaper, Bisiriyu Olaoye, died 72 hours after his 64th birthday.

He was, according to an update on his verified Facebook page, born on February 9, 1961.

A report by Platforms Africa said that Olaoye died on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 and that his remains had since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

Wife of the deceased, Sukurat Olaoye, who confirned her husband’s death in a statement, had said that the Fidau (Muslim prayer) would come up at the deceased’s Ota home yesterday, Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Family source had earlier told Platforms Africa that the late journalist slumped in his home located a few kilometres from The Bells University in Ota before he eventually died.
