Gunmen have killed and beheaded an Assistant Superin- tendent of Police (ASP), serving under the Abia State Command. The ASP identified sim- ply as ‘Agbalagba’ was said to be attached to the Ndi- egoro Police Division in Aba South Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that the gunmen, after killing and beheading the police officer, made away with his gun and uniform. The ASP, an indigene of Ebonyi State, who led the patrol team was said to be due for retirement by September.
Late Agbalagba and his team were said to be on an early morning stop-and- search operation on Tuesday at Cameroon road by East when the gunmen swooped on them unawares.
The Abia police spokes- man, Geoffrey Ogbonna didn’t pick up calls or respond to SMS. However, a source at the State Command confirmed the incident, adding that investigation into the matter has commenced.
