THE appointment of Barrister Hashim Abioye as the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, by Governor Ademola Adeleke has been condemned by a group known as The Osun Masterminds (TOM).

Addressing the media in Osogbo, the state capital, the Executive Director of TOM, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, expressed disapproval of the appointment and stated that the appointment disregards morality and sets a negative precedent for future administrations.
The group raised concerns about Abioye’s impartiality in conducting local government elections due to his partisan background as a former Special Adviser on Legal Matters to the Governor, appointed under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
TOM criticized the Osun State House of Assembly for approving Abioye’s appointment without raising objections, emphasizing the risks of the Assembly becoming compliant with the Executive’s decisions.
TOM condemned the appointment in its entirety and warned against the detrimental impact of maintaining Abioye in office, urging the government to avoid setting a negative precedent for the future.
