Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has appointed Alhaji Abdulwahab Mohammed of the Voice of America (VOA) as his Senior Special Assistant on Communication.
This is contained in a statement issued by Malam Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor on Saturday in Bauchi.
Until his appointment, Mohammed was a seasoned broadcast journalist with the VOA Hausa Service.
The statement said that the appointment took effect immediately, and the new appointee was expected to bring his decades of experience in journalism to enrich the governor’s office.
It described the appointment as a strategic move aimed at enhancing the state’s communication apparatus and strengthening public engagement on government programmes and policies.
Mohammed is expected to his professional track record of objectivity, credibility, and commitment to bear on his new position.
These qualities position him as a key figure in advancing the administration’s vision of good governance and inclusive communication, the statement further said.
He is also expected to play a central role in projecting the government’s developmental strides, increasing transparency, and improving the flow of information between the state and its citizens.
Gov. Mohammed also congratulated the new appointee and expressed confidence that he would deploy his vast media expertise in line with the administration’s commitment to a more informed and participatory society.
