Coventry City Coach, Frank Lampard and Nigerian midfielder, Frank Onyeka.

Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka has completed a permanent transfer to Coventry City from Brentford after the club activated the option to make his loan spell a full-time deal.

Frank Onyeka joined the Sky Blues on loan in January and impressed during the second half of last season, making 14 Championship appearances and scoring once as Coventry secured promotion to the Premier League. The 27-year-old also arrives with valuable top-flight experience after playing 75 Premier League matches for Brentford.

Speaking to Coventry City’s official website, Onyeka expressed his delight at extending his stay with the club and looked ahead to the new campaign.

“I’m really excited for the new season with Coventry,” Onyeka said.

“When I first joined last season, I came here with two goals and that was to win the Championship and help Coventry get promoted to the Premier League.

“I’m really happy to now be a Coventry player back in the Premier League.

“I will give everything to the team, fight for every ball, fight for my teammates and bring my experience.

“My ambition now is to help the Club stay in the Premier League and finish as high as we can.”

The permanent agreement will officially take effect on Wednesday, July 1, as Onyeka begins the next chapter of his career with Coventry City.
