Former leaders and members of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State, have pledged support for APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
They made the pledge at a stakeholders’ meeting in Zaria on Sunday to mobilise former ANPP members ahead of the elections.
Speaking at the meeting, Sen. Aliyu-Lawal Silver recalled that the APC emerged from a political merger in which the ANPP played a significant role.
He said that in spite of what he described as the neglect of former ANPP members by the APC, abandoning the party was not the solution.
Silver urged members to consider the developmental projects recorded under the APC administration in Zaria and support its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He said former ANPP members remained part of the APC-led political structure because of the merger that brought the parties together.
The senator described Zaria as fortunate to have produced Dr Tajudeen Abbas, whose fourth-term election to the House of Representatives paved the way for his emergence as Speaker.
He appealed to aggrieved former ANPP members to forgive past disagreements, set aside their differences and work toward securing victory for APC candidates in 2027.
In his remarks, Alhaji Aminu Sani, the Ajiyan Zazzau, described Silver as a visionary leader who had mentored several people and guided them into political leadership.
Sani urged Zaria residents to assess the achievements of the APC administration and demonstrate their support for the party in the forthcoming elections.
Earlier, Alhaji Abubakar Rilwan, former APC Zonal Chairman (North), described the participants as committed and promising former ANPP members.
Rilwan said the stakeholders had been invited because of their political influence and grassroots connections, adding that each could mobilise more than 50 votes from their respective households
He assured Silver that the participants remained loyal to his leadership and would continue supporting him in advancing their shared political interests.
Other stakeholders at the meeting commended Silver’s leadership qualities and political achievements, pledging to vote for APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
