- Drag themselves to police over sharing formula.
From Ben Dunno, Warri
THE Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun, release of a total sum of N89m alongside other valuables earlier seized by Rivers state Police Command from a victim, Mr. Atubi Davidson, has caused sharp division in the ranks of human rights activists in Delta state, as they could not come to terms on sharing formula.

Investigations carried out by Daily Sun revealed that the disagreements amongst the activists who were engaged either directly by the victim or by proxy, through a third party, (victim’s relations or associates) was based on individual relevance or participations in the entire recovery process.
It was learnt that while some of the Activists, especially the legal practitioners among them, were claiming to be the engine room working behind the scene to get the money released, the radical activists who ply their trade on social media were holding on to the fact that they made the case popular on various platforms.
It was further gathered that case of sharing disagreement against his colleagues was lodged at the Ekpan Police Division, Uvwie Council area, by one Terry, a family friend to victim, who was reported to have brought the matter before other activists in the state.
Based on this, all the activists laying claim to have played a role in the recovery of the said money were all summoned to the police station to explain and show proof of the role they played individually or collectively, inorder to justify their claim in the sharing of the money.
Sources close to the police station hinted that Barrister Ogedegbe, who was demanding the highest share of the money, had secured a court order requesting the impounding of the victim’s car at the police station pending when his share was paid.
Other prominent activists involved in the recovery of the money, including Israel Joe, one Atiku, one Jokpa and others, were reportedly to be indifferent on the sharing formula when their views were sort at the police station.
As at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that most of the activists had collected what was due to them from the recovered money while efforts was still ongoing to pacify the aggrieved ones.
It would be recalled that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun, had on Friday, December 22, 2023, released a total sum of N89m alongside other valuables seized from the victim, one Mr. Atubi Davidson, in Port Harcourt by officers and men of the Rivers state Police Command during a sting operation to his apartment in September last year.
The IGP released order was issued at the end of a thorough investigation into the case and after the victim was able to proof the purpose for the money that was recovered in his apartment during the raid by the police.
