THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 3,104 new registrations and 1,290 transfers have been recorded in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) between Aug. 25 and Sept. 2 in Ondo State.
Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, State Resident Electoral Commissioner( REC), made this know while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Akure.
Babalola said 23 new registrations of Persons With Disability (PWD), 443 corrections, 575 lost/damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) and 410 PVC distributions were also recorded within the period.
According to the REC, the CVR cut across the 18 Local Government headquarters of INEC with two centres at the headquarters in Akure.
Babalola commended the massive turnout of eligible citizens since the commencement of the exercise on Aug. 18, and for the e-registration and physical capturing on Aug.25.
She, however, urged the voters yet to collect their PVC in the previous exercise to collect it at their various local government headquarters across the state.
Babalola, therefore, called on all eligible citizens in the state to take advantage of the ongoing CVR and register to enable them cast their votes for their choices in the next election.
“The only thing that can make you vote and elect the leader of your choice is to register as a voter,” the REC said.
Also speaking with NAN, Fr. Luke Amuleya, a 50 year-old man, said he came for fresh registration and commended INEC for the exercise, saying the conduct was seamless and encouraging.
Amuleya, who called on other eligible citizens to come out enmasse for the registration, said that the voters card was their power to elect the candidates of their choices in the next election.
