Court sentences man to five months for Stealing Catfish

A Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan has sentenced a 26-year-old man, Awalu Garba, to five months imprisonment for stealing dried catfish valued at N22,000.

Garba had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing levelled against him.

The court’s president, Mrs O.E. Owoseni found him guilty as charged.

According to Owoseni, “a plea of guilt remains the best form of evidence, since nobody would confess to what they did not do, and no further proof was required by the court.”
