Court remands woman over alleged N500,000 underwear theft in Osun

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 28-year-old woman, Edun Mariam, over the alleged theft of underwear valued at N500,000.

Mariam is facing a one-count charge bordering on theft, to which she pleaded not guilty.

The Police Prosecutor, Kayode Adeoye, told the court that the defendant allegedly stole the items from a shop belonging to one Risikat Yusuf at the Old Garage area of Osogbo.

Adeoye said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oyindamola Daramola, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre.

The case was adjourned to Oct. 24 for hearing.
