Court Remands 2 Security Men for Allegedly Stealing Employer’s Iron Rods

AN Amawbia Chief magistrate’s court on Wednesday, remanded two security men, Ifeanyi Nwadi and Mohammed Fahd, for allegedly stealing iron rods belonging to their employer.

Nwadi pleaded not guilty to the charge while Fahd pleaded guilty to the two count-charges of conspiracy and stealing.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.N. Ike said the duo be remanded at the Awka Correctional Centre.

She adjourned the case until May 21 for sentencing of the second defendant and hearing of the first defendant.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ikemefuna Nnamani, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 8, at Eagle Hills Estate in Awka, Anambra.

Nnamani told the court that the defendants were security men at the Eagle Hill Estate, where they allegedly stole 30 pieces of 12mm iron rods belonging to their employer.

He said the offences contravened Sections 495(a) and 353(b) of the Criminal Code, Cap 36 Vol. II Revise Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 1991, as amended.
