Residents of Owo town in Ondo State have been thrown into a state of apprehension after an explosion rocked the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area of State capital on Sunday.
According to sources, some worshippers lost their lives as a result of the incident. The explosion, reportedly occurred on the church premises while the mass was going on.
The incident caused pandemonium in the area as residents in the neighborhood of the church ran for safety.
Commercial and social activities in the town have also reportedly been brought to a halt.
Another source said it was some herdsmen that allegedly attacked the church and killed worshippers.
In a viral video on micro blogging site, Twitter, lifeless bodies of worshippers are seen lying in puddle of blood.
