Benue NSCDC visits Orphanage, donates Relief Materials

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue Command on Thursday, donated cash, food items, beddings, toiletries and other essentials to Tivid Orphanage Home International, North Bank area of Makurdi.

The ‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌State Commandant, Mrs Alice Bitrus who led a delegation from the command on a visit to the orphanage, said it was part of the command’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts aimed at building stronger ties with the community.

Bitrus said the gesture also followed the vision of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Prof. Abubakar Audi, to build a humane, disciplined and community-focused corps that protected lives, property and the dignity of Nigerians.

She said that security was not just about carrying arms or guarding critical infrastructure, but also showing compassion, protecting vulnerable people and giving hope to those in need.

She encouraged the children not to see themselves as vulnerable, saying they were lucky to have caring and dedicated caregivers at the home.

The commandant called on well-meaning Nigerians to keep supporting vulnerable children and assured the home’s management that the command would continue to support them.

She also urged NSCDC officers and men to make humanitarian service part of their duty to the nation.

While leading the delegation in prayers and a short moral talk, the command’s Chaplain, Pst Inyang Asuquo, encouraged the children to stay hopeful, reminding them that they had not been forgotten.

Asuquo also prayed for the children’s well-being as well as for peace and security in Nigeria.

Receiving the team, the Founder of the home, Mrs Favour Adah-Paul, thanked the commandant and her team for remembering the children.

Adah-Paul said the visit was timely and lifted the children’s spirits and prayed for God’s protection for the corps as it carried out its duties
