Badejo-Okusanya to lead Nigeria digital PR summit advisory board

Former President of African Public Relations Association, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya has been named as Chairman of the Nigeria Digital Public Relations Summit Advisory Board.

This is contained in a statement by Convener of the summit, Mr Segun McMedal, made available in Abuja on Tuesday.

McMedal said that the six-member Advisory Board comprised professionals drawn from public relations, strategic communications, media, and digital innovation.

He listed Emeka Oparah, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Airtel Africa; and Yushau Shuaib, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Image Merchants Promotion Ltd., publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, as members.

Others are Tolulope Olorundero, Founder and Principal Consultant, Mosron Communications and Founder of Nigerian Women in Public Relations; Omawumi Ogbe, Chief Executive Officer, GLG Communications and Founder of the PR Power List; and Dr Celestine Achi, Chief Executive Officer, Cihan Media Group.

McMedal said the establishment of the Advisory Board marked a significant milestone in the evolution of the Summit, now in its 11th year.

He said board members would provide independent counsel, industry insight, and strategic support to strengthen the summit’s relevance, reach, and impact.

According to him, they will champion strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, industry advocacy, and professional development initiatives that advance digital public relations practice in Nigeria and across Africa.

He quoted Badejo-Okusanya, who is also Lead Partner, CMC Connect LLP, as saying on behalf of the Advisory Board that the summit had earned its place as a serious platform for the profession.

“The Nigeria Digital PR Summit has built a credible platform for advancing conversations around digital public relations, reputation management, and strategic communications in Africa.

“As an Advisory Board, we are committed to supporting its continued growth and to helping shape a profession that is equipped to lead in an increasingly complex communications environment.

“The future belongs to practitioners who can think critically, adapt continuously, and collaborate across boundaries.

“The Summit has a role to play in producing that generation of communicators,” Badejo-Okusanya is quoted as saying.

McMedal described the appointments as a defining step in the summit’s growth.

“The establishment of the Advisory Board is an important landmark in the evolution of the Nigeria Digital PR Summit.

“The caliber, experience, and influence of these professionals will add tremendous value as we deepen stakeholder engagement, strengthen strategic partnerships, and expand the Summit’s contribution to the advancement of digital public relations practice in Nigeria and across Africa.

“We are honoured to have them serve,” he said.

Newsextra24 reports that the upcoming 11th summit, which has its theme as “The Rise of Digital Influence: Culture, Creators and the New PR Playbook” will hold in Lagos on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.
