Arusha Hosts Record-breaking Global Land Rover Festival

THE city of Arusha in northern Tanzania played host to the inaugural Global Land Rover Festival, which drew over 1,000 Land Rovers from around the world, organisers announced on Sunday.

The festival, organised by the Arusha regional commissioner’s office, kicked off on Saturday and runs until Monday. It seeks to break the Guinness World Record for the longest parade of Land Rovers, the organisers stated.

The 12-kilometre parade aimed to surpass the existing record of 632 Land Rovers, set in Germany in 2018, according to a statement from the commissioner’s office.

The event showcases various Land Rover models, including the classic 108, 109, and 110 Defenders, as well as Range Rovers and Freelanders.

On Sunday, the convoy travelled to Arusha National Park, located at the base of Mount Meru, known for its stunning crater views and one of Africa’s best trekking routes. The vehicles are set to return to Gereza grounds on Monday.

Besides the record-breaking attempt, the festival also featured safari adventures, automotive exhibitions, and family entertainment, promoting northern Tanzania’s tourism appeal.
