Army dismantles IPOB/ESN camp, Recovers Remains of Personnel in Imo

Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a major camp belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo State, recovering what are believed to be the remains of two personnel killed four years ago.

The operation took place on Friday, 24 April 2026, along the Ubaha-Orsu axis in Orsu Local Government Area. It was part of ongoing clearance efforts targeting criminal hideouts in the South East.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops of 82 Division, supported by other security agencies, advanced on the suspected IPOB/ESN stronghold. They came under heavy gunfire from armed elements but responded decisively, repelling multiple ambushes and forcing the attackers to flee.
