Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi on Saturday announced that President Bola Tinubu won the presidential primary for the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in the state on Friday.
The governor, who served as the Presidential Primary Collation Officer in Ebonyi, said Tinubu secured 207,579 votes in the APC primary election conducted in the state.
Nwifuru said Tinubu defeated his opponent, Mr Stanley Osifo, who scored no vote.
He said the state had a total of 215,490 delegates, while 207,579 accredited delegates voted in the primary election.
According to him, Tinubu emerged as the preferred candidate in the primary after securing all the valid votes cast by delegates across the state.
“I, Francis Nwifuru, the state collation officer, hereby certify that the information contained in this form represents the true, correct and accurate summary of the results of the primary election in Ebonyi.
“The exercise was peaceful, transparent and conducted in line with the guidelines of the party,” Nwifuru said.
He commended APC members and delegates for their orderly conduct and commitment to the democratic process, noting that the outcome reflected the confidence of party members in the leadership of the president.
Nwifuru also expressed optimism that the APC would record greater success in future elections and urged members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the party.
The primary election was attended by party leaders, government officials, delegates and supporters from the 13 local government areas of the state.
