APC Chairman Visits Sanusi Amid Kano Emirship

APC National Chairman, Yilwatda And Emir Sanusi

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Saturday held a private meeting with the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the monarch’s Rumfa Palace in Kano.

The purpose of the meeting was not immediately disclosed, as the discussion between the APC national chairman and the traditional ruler was held behind closed doors.

The visit took place on August 22, 2026, as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A close associate of the Emir, Muhammad Dallatu, confirmed the meeting to The Punch on Sunday.

Dallatu said Yilwatda visited the monarch shortly after Sanusi returned to Kano from Abuja.

Dallatu stated, “The APC national chairman paid a courtesy visit to His Highness, the Emir of Kano, at the Rumfa Palace on Saturday.

“The Emir had just returned from Abuja when the meeting took place, and the two held a closed-door meeting at the palace.”

Dallatu explained that no information had been released on the matters discussed during the encounter.

He said the private nature of the meeting made it impossible for him to comment on the issues the two men considered.

“The meeting was a closed-door engagement, so I cannot disclose the details of what was discussed between His Highness and the APC national chairman,” he said.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of the lingering dispute over the Kano emirship, which has continued to generate political and traditional tensions in the state.
