Ms Emem Ibanga, the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs disclosed this during the commencement of the programme in Ikot Edibon Headquarters in Nsit Ubium on Tuesday.

She said that 2,043 verified beneficiaries have received debit cards under the federal government’s renewal hope conditional cash transfer programme.

According to her, each of the verified beneficiaries received a debit card preloaded with ₦75,000.

The commissioner explained that the cards were issued free of charge to those captured in the state social register.

She commended Gov. Umo Eno for ensuring that Akwa Ibom people benefited fully through a transparent and seamless process.

“Beneficiaries should not pay anyone to get these cards and must not reveal their PINs. This programme is 100 per cent free and meant to directly improve your livelihood,” she warned.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Mr Alfred Charles, described the initiative as a ”life-changing intervention that has brought hope and relief to many families”.
