A 37-year-old man, Gbenga Emenu, was on Tuesday docked before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 15 phones.
Emenu whose address was not provided is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing and fraud.
He however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 17, at about 5:00 p.m., at Agbo-Malu, Age-Mowo area of Badagry, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant entered the shop of one Busayo Oseni, the complainant and stole 15 phones whose value were yet unknown.
He said that the defendant also collected the sum of N8, 000 from one Dakali Sintunji whose phone was stolen at the shop belonging to Oseni.
He added that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 328 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr N A Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2, 000, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that each of the sureties should pay the sum of N20, 000 into the account of the Court Registrar.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case until March 27, for mention.
