The police on Thursday arraigned a woman, Rukayat Alapafuja, 36, before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding land buyer of N11million.
The defendant, whose address was undisclosed, is facing two -count charge of fraud and stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor , ASP A. O. Igon alleged that the defendant in August 2024, with intent to defraud, obtained N11 million from one Dare Oladimeji under the pretence of selling a plot of land to him.
Igon alleged that the defendant sold a land, which had an uncompleted Duplex on it , a deal, which she knew was false.
He alleged that the defendant stole the money from the complainant and converted the money to her own use.
Igon said she committed the offence at King Estate, Asunle area, Quarry, Ibadan.
He said the offences contravened Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. G. Daodu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N5 million, with two sureties in like sum.
Daodu said one of the sureties must have landed property, while the second surety must be a blood relation of the defendant.
She adjourned the matter until November 19, for hearing.
