President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the Presidential Villa, Abuja
The meeting comes two days before the All Progressives Congress flags off its presidential campaign in Kaduna on October 24, 2026.
Akpabio’s official Mercedes sedan was seen driving off the Villa forecourt at about 4:45 p.m., after a meeting that lasted about an hour.
Details of the discussion were not disclosed as of press time.
The APC will formally launch its nationwide presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday ahead of the presidential election slated for January 16, 2027.
The party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, had said on Tuesday after briefing Tinubu that preparations were complete.
A list of the campaign council leadership released in August named Tinubu as chairman, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and Yilwatda as vice chairmen, and former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdul’aziz Yari as director-general.
Akpabio was named Deputy Director-General (South). The council was inaugurated on October 14.
President Tinubu had last Friday, October 16, while appointing four national commissioners and two resident electoral commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission, asked the Senate to expedite confirmation.
A day earlier, the Presidency said it would transmit the National Policing Bill to the National Assembly by October 29.
