Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos West Senatorial District on Monday endorsed Sen. Idiat Adebule as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
Truthng reports that the endorsement took place during the APC Lagos West Senatorial District primary election held simultaneously in the district’s 10 Local Government Areas.
Party members and stakeholders reaffirmed confidence in Adebule’s performance and leadership, noting that no other aspirant contested the ticket.
Speaking with NAN at Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area, the APC Chairman in the council, Alhaji Saheed Animashaun, said the exercise was to formally affirm the adoption of Adebule as the consensus candidate.
Also speaking, the APC Vice Chairman in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Mr Kolawole Fagbenro, said party members across Lagos West unanimously endorsed the incumbent senator.
According to him, the exercise was conducted simultaneously in all the local government areas to reaffirm support for Adebule.
Fagbenro described the senator’s performance as credible, adding that the absence of opposition to her candidacy reflected her broad acceptance within the district.
“Her track record, including her tenure as deputy governor, speaks for itself. The endorsement is to reaffirm and confirm her mandate,” he said.
He said the exercise was replicated across local government areas, including Mushin, Agege, Alimosho, Oshodi/Isolo, Ojo and Badagry, adding that APC remained a well-organised party.
A retired Permanent Secretary in Lagos State, Dr Regina Obasa, said Adebule’s impact was visible across the district, which stretches from Oshodi and Mushin to Badagry.
Obasa, who coordinates women for Adebule’s campaign, said the senator had undertaken road projects and empowerment programmes that had positively affected constituents.
According to her, Adebule recently facilitated the construction of a road in the Mukandasi community that had remained untarred for more than 20 years.
She added that the senator empowered about 5,000 constituents in January with tools and equipment to boost their livelihoods.
Obasa also said Adebule had sponsored about 20 bills, demonstrating her commitment to legislative duties and constituency development.
Meanwhile, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kosofe Local Government chapter, has endorsed the re-election bid of Sen. Mukhail Abiru, who represents Lagos East Senatorial District.
The chapter’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Lanre Aborisade, disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Lagos.
NAN reports that Abiru is seeking a second term unopposed.
Aborisade said the senator had performed creditably in youth empowerment and community development.
According to him, Abiru established the SAIL Innovation Lab to equip young people with digital skills and had contributed to educational and social development across the constituency.
“Sen. Mukhail Abiru has performed excellently in his first term. In terms of youth empowerment, he has made a significant impact.
“He established the SAIL Innovation Lab to promote digital skills, built classrooms and contributed meaningfully to the development of women, artisans and other segments of society,” he said.
Aborisade described Abiru as the best candidate for the position and said youths in the constituency were ready to mobilise support for his re-election.
“As youth advocates, we are committed to mobilising support for him to continue his good work and further empower youths and women,” he said.
He urged residents at the grassroots to support the senator to sustain what he described as the dividends of democracy in the constituency.
“He has represented us well and deserves another opportunity to serve and represent us effectively,” Aborisade said.
