2027: Akwa Ibom ADC governorship Candidate Unveils Agenda, Pledges Equal Opportunities

Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom has pledged to run a government that will provide equal opportunities for the people.

Akpanudoedehe made the pledge while presenting his manifesto, tagged “The Prosperity Agenda” to the media in Uyo on Monday.

He said that the agenda was designed to promote a government that would empower the people, grow the economy and deliver shared prosperity.

“The Prosperity Agenda is a development blueprint designed to transform Akwa Ibom into a prosperous, secure, economically vibrant and investment-friendly state.

“Our government will pursue a practical, phased approach to development, with measurable priorities for each year, and ensuring that jobs are created at every phase,” he said.

Akpanudoedehe further said that his government would improve citizens’ quality of life, create employments, and attract local and foreign investments.

The ADC governorship candidate listed community development; education; urban renewal; employment generation; economic transformation; industrialisation; accessible healthcare, quality water supply, infrastructure, and basic amenities as the pillars of a greater Akwa Ibom.

He said that his government would provide extension services; appropriate mechanisation; improved agricultural inputs; seedlings; storage facilities; processing and market access to support farmers.

“We will provide financial support to fishermen and revitalise the rice belt in Ini and other areas with agricultural potential by giving adequate support to rice farmers,” he said.

Akpanudoedehe said that his administration would improve staff training, digital service delivery and access to welfare programmes, adding that housing and car loans would be provided for government workers.

“We will provide educational support for at least four children from every staff member’s family, covering all levels, from nursery to tertiary education.

“Our government will establish a fourth tier government to give local people access to power, and work with law enforcement agencies and communities to improve public security,” he said.

He said that within the first 100 days in office, his government would inject N100 billion into the state’s economy to provide accessible financing for entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, women and young people.

“This strategic investment plan will stimulate economic activities, empower local businesses, create jobs and unlock the productive potential of our people.

Akpanudoedehe said that his administration would also improve waste management, drainage systems and coastal protection, and ensure proper environmental assessments.
