Makinde’s PDP Faction Picks Date For Primaries, Sets Presidential Forms At ₦100 Million

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has released its schedule of activities and timetable for the 2027 general elections.

The party also fixed ₦100,000,000 as the price to be paid for expression of interest and nomination forms by aspirants interested in contesting the 2027 presidency on its platform.

Newsextra24 reports that the details were contained in a statement on Monday signed by the PDP Organizing Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan.

According to the schedule, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for all elective offices will commence on Tuesday, May 5 and run till Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The party announced that primaries for all elective positions will hold on Thursday, May 28, 2026 while a special national convention to ratify all candidates will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, in a statement on Monday, also confirmed that the party has considered and approved the timetable for pre-election activities.

He highlighted the following activities as scheduled below:

Sales of Expression of Interest and nomination forms May 5 – May 13, 2026.

Last Date for submission of already completed forms May 14, 2026.

Screening of aspirants May 15-18, 2026.

Screening Appeals May 21, 2026.

Publication of all cleared aspirants May 22, 2026.

Ward Primaries for all offices May 27, 2026.

Appeals on All Primaries May 28, 2026.

NEC Meeting to approve all nominated candidates May 29, 2026.

Special Convention (candidates’ ratification) May 30, 2026.

The cost of nomination and expression of interest forms are as follows:

House of Assembly

Expression of Interest – ₦ 500,000
Nomination form – ₦ 1,500,000

House of Representatives

Expression of Interest ₦ 2,000,000
Nomination form – ₦ 5,000,000

Senate

Expression of Interest ₦ 3,000,000
Nomination form ₦ 7,000,000

Governorship

Expression of Interest ₦ 5,000,000
Nomination form ₦ 35,000,000

Presidential

Expression of Interest ₦ 10,000,000
Nomination form ₦ 90,000,000

According to the details released, women are exempted from paying for nomination forms, as they will pay for only the Expression of Interest, while youths and people living with disability are to pay 50% of nomination form fees for the offices of their choice.
